White Tara statue. Note the little statue to the right with an offering of what we think is rice. You can see the problem of photographing shiny gold plated statues in alcoves.

Shrine offerings. Too dark and not properly in focus. Apparently that was an exposure of more than a second..

Torma (offering cake) on the shrine. Looks out of focus..

The full shrine in the shrine room. Note the really annoying lights, the left hand door I left open and the pile of books I was using as a tripod in shot.. *gives up*

I'm posting links to the photos as I don't think the Ubuntu Women's planet deals with live journal cut tags and loads of photos would be really spammy..

Lewisham College Tressillian building the light was awful - the best of a very poor bunch

Lambeth Palace
The only photos wikipedia has of this are from me - woo! Considering how important is it, and that it's normally closed to the public this fact alone makes it worth the 2 hour queue:

Lambeth Palace main entrance
Lambeth Palace Great Hall and Cardinal Pole's fig tree
Lambeth Palace Great Hall roof
Lambeth Palace guard room
Lambeth Palace unknown bit

More later

The Tibetan Buddhists have nicked my image! [Jun. 18th, 2007|11:16 pm]
[Tags|, ]

I've just looked at our article on Walworth, and in particular the bit about Manor Place Baths. If you look at the photo thumbnail in the article, photo here, and compare it to the photo used by the Buddhists themselves, it is clear that they've nicked my photo!

My photo (like all my photos) is dual licensed under the GFDL and Creative Commons BY-SA.

Do we have a suitable LART policy for this sort of thing?

(part of me doesn't want to cause a fuss, but people do need to respect our license. We are not public domain and like all open source/open content projects our license is almost our reason for being. I don't personally care if my name is on the photo or not but we still need to defend our licenses..)

I should go and take photos of stuff for wikipedia (and/or for me and/or for pleasure - wikipedia is the excuse though)

All the Southwark parks that don't have photos (and most don't have articles yet either)
Better pics of Brixton
The demolition of the block with the ministry of salsa in at the elephant
The building in the south bank that's covered in grass
Pear Tree House in Gypsy Hill
All the entrances to the deep level shelters
and loads of other stuff..

I've got some of the pictures up from Mudchute City Farm. Not done the animal noises yet.

They are all in here

The particularly cute ones are:
Newborn lamb
Little bunny with carrot

Me after 4 creme eggs
Cow

My sourceforge project to host extra content for tuxpaint has been approved. I seem to have found myself an admin of something I don't know - waaaa.

I have like cvs and stuff. Eek - I'm inkscape girl. I'll have to think how to set up and then invite helpers.

Spent the afternoon with [info]ewtikins at Mudchute City Farm taking photos and recording noises for wikimedia commons (and possibly tuxpaint). It was a lovely day and I felt really good being out in the open in the sun. After we'd done the farm she fed me too! Woo!

I seem to have taken ~100 photos and 4/5 audio tracks. Not looked at any of them yet.

still @college [Feb. 8th, 2007|08:09 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[Current Location |lewisham college]

1 more college person turned up later. There is still no excuse I reckon as there's basically no snow here ;) (although I accept it depends on where ypu are coming from).

I'm not happy with my photos from Saturday. They look washed out. I think it's partly that the lens needs cleaning and partly that I think I should up the saturation a bit for tuxpaint - think how saturated the teletubbies is..

The tuxpaint package in Ubuntu (and therefore Debian) is broken as tuxpaint-data depends on tuxpaint-stamps and vice versa. This means that neither can be installed.. I've stuck it on the bugtracker and said that *I* will fix the bl**dy thing as no-one has looked at it since I submitted it. I don't really see why tuxpaint stamps should depend on anything at all. I'll (hopefully) make a patch to fix the thing. Localisation is also broken in Ubuntu dapper - not sure about edgy and feisty as they don't install ;)
